In this manual we will often refer to Q4 eBook Factory (EBF) as Q4. This is because the explanations we give for EBF are valid for Q4. And because EBF is a subset of Q4, geared specifically to the production of cross-media publications.
Q4 publishing system allows you to create XML content from an InDesign book and maintain a dynamic link between both. Through the floating palette “Contents”, available in InDesign or InCopy, you can create an XML structure and add content that is in your InDesign document.
This palette is also available in our XML editor, TXTool, and this open the door to the publication from other frameworks such as Word or XML directly.
In addition, the Q4 plugin creates a JPG image of any object in the pages, whether this object is an image frame or a set of lines and boxes.
Thanks to these features, the entire contents of a work designed “for printing” may reside in the system, ready to be transformed into HTML, ePub, Mobipocket, RTF, XML, PDF... or any format you want.
